Chaco Debuts Grateful Dead Collection For Band’s 50th Anniversary

Outdoor brand Chaco thinks there’s lots to be grateful for these days. In celebration of the 50th anniversary and reunion tour of the Grateful Dead, the company is issuing a limited-edition sandal collection.

Beginning in May, Chaco will offer pre-built, limited-edition sandals with two webbing options, available exclusively on its website, Chacos.com. The sandals are inspired by the legendary rock group and include uppers with webbing patterns featuring the classic Dancing Bears and Steal Your Face designs.

Following the initial launch, consumers can also customize their look, from the sole to the stitching color, by using the design tool Chacos.com/US/en/MyChacos. The custom series will retail for $130, while the remainder of the line will sell for $125.

This summer, the surviving members of the original band will reunite for three concerts at Soldier Field in Chicago from July 3-5. The reunion comes nearly 20 years after the band’s final performance at the venue with its late singer, Jerry Garcia. Chaco is debuting a pop-up store, timed for the concerts,  at Timbuk2’s Bucktown location that will be open from June 22 through July 6.

“We’re excited for this opportunity to customize the Chaco experience for Grateful Dead fans everywhere and look forward to being a part of this historic anniversary,” said Chaco GM Chip Coe. “With customization available to the buckle color, our limited-edition sandal can be as unique as every member of the Deadhead community.”
