NBA All-Star Celebrity Game: Spike vs. Melo Shoe-Down

Hollywood and hoops.

The two will converge as the NBA All Star weekend tips off on Friday at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Movie stars and baseball phenoms will play each other in a spirited, good-natured game, airing on ESPN at 7 p.m.

Big names scheduled to take the court include three-time MVP and comedian Kevin Hart, “Blackish” actor Anthony Anderson, Little League World Series darling Mo’ne Davis, “America’s Got Talent” host Nick Cannon and even Bollywood star Abhishek Bachchan. Also slated to play: actors Chadwick Boseman and Michael Rapaport, as well as former NBA players (and local favorites) Allan Houston and Chris Mullin.

New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony and the team’s courtside cheerleader Spike Lee will coach the teams.

The famed filmmaker, who years earlier gained public name recognition playing fictional character Mars Blackmon in Nike’s Air Jordan commercial (“It’s gotta be the shoes”), is well known for his very visible, outspoken role at the garden, as well as for his street-inspired fashions.

His cross-court coaching rival in no stranger to fashion, either. Anthony is widely regarded as one of the most stylish superstars, despite his miscues in his earlier years.

While New York Knick fans don’t have much to cheer about this year (the team has a paltry record of 10 wins and 42 losses), we thought it would at least be fun to look at who has the better footwear: Spike or Melo?
