Lupita Nyong’o’s Oscars 2015 Dress Stolen, Nicholas Kirkwood Shoes Safe

Academy Award winner Lupita Nyong’o’s pearl-covered Calvin Klein Collection gown — valued at $150,000 — has been stolen, but her shoes remain untouched.

The actress stunned on the Oscars red carpet in the dress, with matching Nicholas Kirkwood platform pumps, making her one of the best-dressed of the night.

The gown, custom-made by Francisco Costa using 6,000 white Akoya pearls, was stolen from Nyong’o’s room at The London Hotel in West Hollywood on Wednesday night. According to reports, the LAPD is investigating the theft by reviewing the hotel’s surveillance-video footage as well as interviewing witnesses.

The London Hotel released a statement after the theft: “This is a terribly unfortunate situation, and we are working with law enforcement on their investigation.”

2014 was Nyong’o’s year. She swept awards season and took home the grandest prize of all, the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in “12 Years A Slave.” As soon as she hit her first red carpet, she was on every best-dressed list and is now known not only for her acting abilities but for her fashion sense as well.

“What will Lupita wear?” was the question for this year’s Academy Awards. Even though she wasn’t nominated, Nyong’o was the most-searched person on Google that night.

The actress is always a standout on the red carpet, looking flawless in colorful ensembles — and never a boring shoe. Her footwear favorites seem to be Christian Louboutin, Sophia Webster, Paul Andrew and Nicholas Kirkwood.
