“Grease” is the word.
The movie’s stars — Olivia Newton-John, who played Sandy, and Didi Conn, who cheered on the central romance as Frenchy — performed a mini reunion special in Las Vegas, where Newton-John is hosting her “Summer Nights” show at the Flamingo Hotel & Casino.
The Aussie star stepped back into her black leather leggings and pumps beside Conn, who donned the Pink Ladies’ signature silky jacket.
Fans of “Grease” remember it for its catchy musical numbers and 50s fashion. The film follows Sandy’s transformation from nice newcomer to “it” girl in all black with quick paces. Newton-John’s character leaves her white, ankle-strap sandals and lace-up flats behind in favor of red mules with wooden soles in the final scene. Saddle shoes and peep-toe pumps rounded out the wardrobes of Pink Ladies Rizzo, Marty and Jan.
But statement style wasn’t exclusive to the ladies: the T-Birds stomped around in Converse-style sneakers while John Travolta’s Danny Zuko wore black shoes with white socks (ahead of his time?) around Rydell High.

Last summer, Newton-John talked to FN about choosing costumes for her current Vegas run, saying: “All of my outfits in the show are by Brian Rennie for Basler. They really match the show and my style. As for my shoes, I love them because they are stylish, but more importantly, comfortable. Comfort always wins in my book.” The singer-actress added that she didn’t want something “over-the-top Vegas” for her performance, instead opting for an all-white set.
