Vans Warped Tour Kicks Off in California

For more than 20 long years, the Vans Warped Tour has been crisscrossing the country, bringing the hippest, newest rock acts to young fans. And in 2015 neither the skate brand nor the national music festival are showing any signs of slowing down.

On Friday, the tour begins its cross-country trek, starting with a day of concerts in Pomona, Calif. Among the artists on the bill are Blessthefall, a metalcore group from Phoenix; New Jersey’s hardcore band Senses Fail; Houston rapper Horst Christian Simco (aka Riff Raff); and Never Shout Never, an indie-rock group out of Missouri.

In addition, the festival, which has been both applauded and lambasted for its increasingly diverse lineup — you may recall Katy Perry had a showing there — has added comedy acts and some YouTube stars to the lineup. It’s also showing a little love to the older crowd, offering one complimentary ticket for a parent accompanying a minor under the age of 18.
