The Best Custom Cleats Of The NFL Season

NFL Players may push the league’s buttons with their custom cleats each season, but they’re definitely conversation starters. With Marshawn Lynch’s infamous gold kicks garnering major attention and a serious warning to sponsored players by Nike last year, the custom cleat buzz is maybe the biggest its ever been.

From Marcus Rivero (aka @SolesbySir) to David Zambrano (aka @dezcustomz), sneakerhead designers are pushing the boundaries this year. See the top picks on the field from 2015.

Ricky Jean Francois used the Force in a pair of Darth Vader and Kylo Ren cleats designed by sneaker artist David E. Zambrano of @dezcustomz. Fracnois, the defensive end for the Washington Redskins, wore the kicks for the special Saturday game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Cam Newton’s splashy style got a little interesting when the Carolina Panther’s quarterback wore custom painted Under Armour cleats by @kreativecustomkicks and @dezcustomz with his own picture on them. And yes, that is Newton doing the Dab.

Our other absolute favorite comes from sneakerhead Marcus Rivero of @SolesBySir. You probably remember Mr. Rivero’s name after his custom gold cleats for Seahawk’s star Marshawn Lynch created a firestorm after they were banned for the Super Bowl.

This year, Rivero has a bunch of new players and in particular, his design for Tracy Porter of the Kansas City Chiefs back in October really stood out, along with a custom pair for Ricky Jean Francois, who really just can’t get enough of his custom kicks.

The Joker, as it turns out, is a fan favorite for custom cleats. Odell Beckham Jr. of the New York Giants and Mohammed Sanu Sr. of the Cincinnati Bengals both wore custom versions featuring the Batman villain on the field this season.

And if the Joker wasn’t enough to get your comic book fix, turns out NFL players must really love their cartoons. Check out the top ones featuring everyone from the Tasmanian Devil to The Grinch below and tell us which are your favorite.
