Jordan Brand-Sponsored Russell Westbrook Lands NBA Live 16 Cover

Brand Jordan-sponsored basketball superstar Russell Westbrook hits the court with a visible passion and intensity that sets him apart from his peers. That on-the-court demeanor will now be emblazoned on a video game cover.

EA Sports announced today that the Oklahoma City Thunder point guard will be the featured athlete on the NBA Live 16 cover. The game will make its way to stores in the fall.

“NBA Live 16 is all about self-expression, and who better embodies that than Westbrook, both on and off the court? Russell plays every game like he has something to prove,” said Anthony Stevenson, VP of marketing for EA Sports.

Westbrook, a four-time NBA all-star, played this past season in the Air Jordan XX9. The guard most frequently hit the court in the pairs featuring the large Jumpman logo near the heel on the shoe’s upper, occasionally wearing the elephant-print version with the smaller Jumpman logo toward the back of the shoe.

Although the injury-laden Thunder missed the playoffs, the Oklahoma City standout had a solid season and was considered an MVP candidate at season’s end. Westbrook averaged 28.1 points and 8.6 assists per game this season in 67 games. The guard’s 41-point performance led the Western Conference to a 163-158 win over the Eastern Conference and earned him the 2015 NBA All-Star Game MVP honor.
