The president of Kicklahoma began collecting sneakers in 2012, and is strict about the shoes he buys. Here, the self confessed Kevin Durant fan takes us through his shoe collecting history and recalls the moment he became a sneakerhead.
“I first got into sneakers because of my brother Juan. In 2012, during the holidays, I bought him three pairs of Kevin Durant shoes. I thought, why not start a collection of my own? I’ve always been a huge Nike fan, but since Kevin Durant moved to Oklahoma City, that made the shoes a little bit cooler, seeing shoes in the Oklahoma City Thunder colorway,” Guerra told Footwear News.
“My collection is strictly of the Kevin Durant Nike line. I wear what I like, and I wear all the shoes I buy. They don’t just sit in the closet. The KD VI ‘Year of the Horse’ — I love the colors on that shoe and saw Durant play only one game in them. If I were able to find them in my size, I’d definitely have to buy them. My favorite shoe is the Kevin Durant III. It was the fourth pair in my collection.”
