Brooks To Release A NYC-Inspired Shoe Before The Marathon

Just in time for the New York City Marathon is the release of a race-ready shoe from running brand Brooks with a design inspired by the sights, scenes and people of the Big Apple.

The Bright Lights, Big City Adrenaline GTS 16 will be available in New York specialty running stores, the Brooks Running Booth at the marathon expo, and via the brand’s website on Friday. The shoes will retail for $130.

“When we set out to create our second New York-inspired shoe, we wanted to build on the success of last year’s Freedom Adrenaline GTS 15 and were immediately drawn to the energy and excitement of Times Square as well as the transition of the city from day to night,” said Shane Downey, Brooks global director, in a statement. “The Bright Lights, Big City Adrenaline GTS 16 plays with color and reflectivity to bring to life the hyper-drive that New York is synonymous with.”

This iteration of the brand’s Adrenaline GTS 16 shoe, designed for runners looking for optimal cushioning and support, features a bold striped pattern on its upper that is reminiscent of cars speeding through Times Square. In the dark, the reflective elements of the shoe illuminate, giving it a look similar to the city’s blurring streetlights. Each sock liner reads “NYC 2015,” with the words “Bright Lights” also appearing on the left, and “Big City” on the right.
