Drew Brees & Eli Manning Play Historic Game In Nike

The New Orleans Saints hosted the New York Giants on Sunday afternoon in a game that has rearranged the league’s all-time record books, beating the NFC East leaders 52-49 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. Although the Drew Brees-led Saints beat the Eli Manning-led Giants, both superstar quarterbacks performed at a level that solidified their reputations as the game’s best.

Brees, who played in the Saints colorway of the Nike Lunar Code Pro 3/4 cleats, threw for seven touchdowns in the game, becoming the eighth player in the history of the NFL to do so. Manning, who also wore the Nike Lunar Code Pro 3/4 cleats, but in a Giants colorway, threw six touchdowns, giving him 276 for his career, passing San Francisco 49ers legend (and Skechers pitchman) Joe Montana and Vinny Testaverde on the all-time list. He now has the 10th-most touchdown passes in league history.

The 13 touchdown passes that Brees and Manning threw for also set a league record. This was the second game in NFL history where the quarterbacks threw for six touchdowns each — the other coming in 1969 (which also involved the New Orleans Saints).

Brees and the Saints (4-4) will face the Tennessee Titans next, on Nov. 8, while Manning and the Giants (4-4) will face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
