Foot Locker & James Harden Team Up For ‘Play My Tweet’ Challenge

New York-based athletic shoe retailer Foot Locker and Adidas-sponsored Houston Rockets guard James Harden are set to engage fans via Twitter for the retailer’s “Play My Tweet” challenge.

Starting today, by tagging @FootLocker on the social media platform and using the hashtag #PlayMyTweet, fans of Harden can submit requests with a chance of having the All-Star guard fulfill them. The challenges will be undertaken on Oct. 8 in Houston, with Harden shooting baskets using balls with the requests written on them. If he makes the shot, he doesn’t have to fulfill the request. If he misses, he will fulfill the request. The difficulty of the shot Harden takes depends on the size of the request.

“Foot Locker has had a great deal of fun teaming up with James Harden for past games with fans. We’re excited to take that engagement to the next level with the ‘Play My Tweet’ challenge,” said Stacy Cunningham, EVP of marketing for Foot Locker, in a statement. “Harden is an entertaining, talented NBA star, and we’re eager to see what fun requests he will fulfill on behalf of fans across the country.”

Fans can watch Harden take the shots on Foot Locker’s YouTube and Twitter accounts.

“Working with Foot Locker gives me the opportunity to engage with fans in a creative and fun way,” Harden said in a statement. “I’m excited to see what the fans want me to do, and I hope I won’t be doing anything too embarrassing.”

Harden is now sponsored by Adidas after signing a 13-year, $200 million deal with the Germany-based athletic brand in August.
