New Balance, Asics & Skechers Offer Sneakers To Benefit Breast Cancer Charities

The spirit of benevolence is always alive and well in October, the month numerous retailers and shoe labels unveil initiatives to benefit breast cancer charities. The sneaker world is no stranger to this exchange, with top brands giving their best silhouettes a pink makeover for the cause.

Brands including New Balance, Skechers and Asics are currently offering shoes adorned in pink with proceeds going to charities.

Although its popularity may see a boost in October, New Balance’s program to benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure isn’t limited to the month. Through the New Balance Lace Up for the Cure Collection to Susan G. Komen, the brand has made an ongoing commitment to donate 5 percent of the suggested retail price from each product sold to the charity, for 2015, 2016 and 2017, with a guaranteed minimum donation of $500,000 each year. Included in the collection are the Pink Ribbon Vazee Pace, Pink Ribbon 665 and Pink Ribbon 1765v2 shoes.

Skechers is offering special editions of its GoRun 4, GoRun Ride 4, GoWalk 3 and GoWalk 2 Flash, each featuring hints of pink for its month-long program benefiting the American Cancer Society. The initiative includes raising money for breast cancer research, helping to provide free information and services and aiding women in need to gain access to mammograms. In addition, Skecher will sponsor the 2015 American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk in San Francisco on Oct. 24.

Asics launched a collection of footwear that will benefit actress Christina Applegate’s initiative Right Action for Women, a program that provides support for women who are at an increased risk of breast cancer. The program also aims to help diminish financial barriers that women may encounter when accessing advanced breast screenings. The collection includes special editions of its Gel-Fit Sana 2 PR and GT-1000 4 PR silhouettes.
