New Balance And Retailer Concepts to Release Boston-Themed Sneaker Before Marathon

Boston is a popular place to be as of late, as the East Coast city preps for this year’s Boston Marathon on April 20. But the city — particularly its sneakerhead population — will be buzzing for another reason this Saturday: the launch of a New Balance and Concepts collaboration, the Boston NB 574.

“The sneaker is important to Boston because it not only highlights the tremendous Made in the USA craftsmanship of Boston-based New Balance, but also pays homage to the great city itself, with a depiction of the Boston skyline,” said Tarek Hassan, owner of the retailer. “It’s extraordinary to be able to create a sneaker around the city right before one of the most iconic Boston events.”

The sneaker, which is exclusive to the store’s location in Cambridge, Mass., will be available in-store at 10 a.m. Saturday for $170. There will be a limited online release of the shoe Saturday afternoon via the Concepts website.

The NB 574 boasts a mostly two-tone blue suede upper, a gray suede heel adorned with the city’s skyline and “Boston 2015” laser-etched in gold, and navy Horween leather panels.
