Nike Releases HypervenomX for Small-Sided Soccer

For small-sided soccer players on the pitch around the world, Nike added to its NikeFootballX shoe roster today with the release of the HypervenomX. The soccer shoe, designed for games with fewer players on a smaller field, is the first to utilize Nike’s Flyknit technology on the shoe’s collar, with a mesh upper.

“The popularity of football exceeds the amount of space available to play it,” said Max Blau, VP of Nike Football Footwear, in a statement. “Small-sided is increasingly the form of the game that young players are introduced to, and it’s where their style emerges.”

The brand adapted its Hypervenom II boot for the agile-attacking small-sided soccer player. It used its Flywire technology in the shoe’s upper, with siping added to the areas of the shoe used to strike the ball, and the brand’s Grind recycled rubber on the areas that are prone to abrasion and dragging.

The HypervenomX will be available in an indoor-court version and a turf version in two colorways — a black upper with white accents and a white outsole, and a gray-and-orange upper with a white outsole.
