Nike’s Latest Kyrie 1 Shoe, the Driveway, Inspired By Home Hoops

Before hitting jumpers and driving the lane in the pros, basketball players get their start somewhere — often playing in their driveway as kids. Throwing up those shots in the driveway is the inspiration for the latest Kyrie Irving signature shoe release from Nike, the Kyrie 1 Driveway.

The latest Kyrie 1 iteration will hit stores Wednesday with a retail price of $110.

According to Nike, Irving practiced shots in his driveway until darkness set in, and when it became too dark to see clearly, his father helped by parking his car at the end of the driveway with the headlights on for another hour of shoot time.

The new shoe is predominantly black, with a black and dark gray upper and reflect silver and green glow accents, with an all-black midsole and outsole. The green glow accents in the upper are seen through the upper’s layer of mesh, on the outside and inside of the tongue and on the heel.

The Kyrie 1 features the brand’s Zoom unit in the forefoot for responsive cushioning, Phylon foam in the heel for cushioning on impact, mesh to keep the foot cool and a molded heel counter for support.
