Nike-Endorsed Russell Wilson Signs $87.6 Million Deal With Seahawks

National Football League star quarterback Russell Wilson will now be making a lot more money per year than the $1.5 million he was scheduled to make in the final year of his rookie contract, as the Nike-sponsored athlete signed a new four-year deal today with the Seattle Seahawks.

According to multiple reports, Wilson’s new contract is worth $87.6 million over four years, with $60 million of it guaranteed. The quarterback — who has had two Super Bowl appearances with the Seahawks, winning one — will also receive a $31 million signing bonus.

Wilson also has an endorsement deal with Nike and has appeared in ads for the brand for its Field Generals Collection, a line of football-specific training shoes and apparel built for use at the gym and on turf. The ads featured the Zoom Field General, a training silhouette boasting Flywire for support, additional traction in the outsole to improve agility and control and a Zoom unit for responsive cushioning.

The 2012 third-round draft pick, who played for North Carolina State and Wisconsin in college, took to Twitter to announce his new deal, writing, “Blessed to be w/ this organization for 4 more years! Can’t wait to get on field w/ the fellas! @Seahawks #ChampionshipMindset #GoHawks.”
