Nike ‘What The’ LeBron 12 Drops Saturday

Sneakerheads love the “What The” releases from Nike, and this weekend, they will have another one to add to their collections.

The Nike What The LeBron 12 will hit stores Saturday and retail for $250.

Although the brand calls the style’s finish “multicolor and phantom-metallic cacao,” it’s safe to say that no description can accurately describe the shoe’s colorway. Like previous What The releases, the What The LeBron 12 takes elements of earlier editions of the LeBron 12, from colors and patterns to graphics and technical details, and puts them together to create a very different, abstract-looking sneaker.

This isn’t the first signature shoe for NBA superstar LeBron James to get the What The treatment: The LeBron 10 and LeBron 11 silhouettes were also sold in What The colorways.

In June, Nike released its coveted KD 7 silhouette in a What The colorway, using the most distinguishable elements from 18 editions of the KD 7, including the Aunt Pearl, All-Star, Global Game and Egg Nog colorways.

The last iteration of the LeBron 12 silhouette from the brand, the LeBron 12 King’s Cork, was released on Sept. 12. That shoe features a cork upper with a black Hyperposite overlay.

Nike originally launched the “What The” concept in 2007, an idea of Nike Skateboarding shoe designer James Arizumi, with the release of the SB What The Dunk.
