First came Adidas versus Puma. Now there’s a heated new feud: retired NBA players Stephon Marbury and Michael Jordan.
Marbury, a former NBA point guard who currently plays in China, has prided himself on offering inexpensive sneakers to poor kids.
In 2006, he launched $15 sneakers under his Starbury label, which was a partnership with New York-based fast-fashion retailer Steve & Barry’s.
That same year, the former New York Knick earned Footwear News’ “Launch of the Year” award for offering affordable athletic shoes when other big-name players were hawking high-priced sneakers.
Marbury, who is looking to bring back that line, escalated things on social media when he lashed out at Michael Jordan.

In a series of Twitter rants, Marbury said, “Kids in China have no clue that kids get killed for Jordan’s. Either he will change it or the people will speak.”

He also Tweeted: “Home boy your paying 200 for Jordan’s and they make them for 5 dollars. The shoes are made in China in the same places. Stay calm we coming!”

The original Starbury line shuttered in 2009 as his NBA career faded and his largest distributor, Steve & Barry’s, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
So far, Jordan has not responded.
Real people know. I’m off the kids getting killed for Jordan’s. I hate that this dude won’t change that. Greedy! https://t.co/tcpL2whXVE
