Vans launched its Vans Syndicate label in 2005, a collection of products available exclusively at select independent skateboard retailers that aims to celebrate the culture’s diverse heritage of ideas, attitudes and influences. To celebrate its 10th year in business, the label will host a retrospective installation at Known Gallery in Los Angeles.
“These Days: Ten Years of Vans Syndicate” will be open to the public on Nov. 20 at 7 p.m., and will feature artwork, collectibles and special projects with collaborators from the past 10 years.
Since Vans Syndicate’s inception, the label has collaborated with artists and designers in a variety of fields, including renowned Los Angeles-based tattoo and graffiti artist Mr. Cartoon, the late New York City skateboard legend Andy Kessler, skateboarder and motorcycle builder Max Schaaf, fashion label OAMC’s creative director and co-founder Luke Meier, and premium Japanese menswear label and longtime collaborator WTAPS.
The last shoe released for the anniversary celebration was the WTAPS Authentic S on Nov. 14. Prior to the recent WTAPS collaboration, the brand released the Seylynn S designed by fashion label OAMC’s creative director and co-founder Luke Meier in September, and in October the Andy Kessler Sk8-Hi Reissue NYC S and the Max Schaaf Mountain Edition 4Q S.
