Physical Therapist Creates Yeezy-Inspired Casts For Kids With Disabilities

Amanda Hall is making sure her young patients’ disabilities don’t stop them from wearing the hottest shoe styles.

Known as the Mad Caster on Instagram, the Washington, D.C.-based pediatric physical therapist spends her days casting the legs and feet of children with disabilities, from cerebral palsy to spina bifida.

But these aren’t your typical, medical-looking casts and AFOs. Knowing how much kids want to dress like their peers, Hall uses a little design wizardry to turn her orthopedic devices into replicas of popular shoes — everything from Ugg boots and DC skate shoes to Air Jordan sneakers.

Her latest creation is a take on Kanye West’s coveted Yeezy Boost 350 Moonrocks. The infant-sized AFOs are made with Delta-Cast Conformable casting tape that resembles the textile upper on the sneaker. Hall perfectly captured all the little details, down to the heel-tab and YZY logo.

“It can feel scary for kids who are getting their first cast,” Hall noted. “You really want to give them something they can be proud to show off. Yeezy does the trick.”
