Cat Footwear Hosts Global Art Contest Using Its Colorado Boot

Today, Nov. 10, Cat Footwear is kicking off its global brand conference in downtown Grand Rapids, Mich., home to parent company Wolverine World Wide, with a unique art component.

In celebration of the 25th anniversary next year of the brand’s iconic Colorado boot, each territory for the 140 countries where Cat Footwear is sold has been invited to work with a local artist to submit a piece of art using a pair of Colorado boots as the canvas.

The more than 2,000 international guests in the city for the week-long corporate conference will cast a vote for the pair of boots they feel best represents the spirit of the brand. The territory with the most votes will be awarded $25,000 toward its autumn/winter 2016 inventory.

The U.S. is submitting boots designed by Liz Lomax, an award-winning 3D illustrator based in New York. Her work has been licensed and sold worldwide and featured in an array of advertising campaigns and magazines.

To further celebrate the milestone, Cat Footwear will roll out a new collection of Colorado boots for men and women in a variety of color and material updates. In 2016, a series of consumer events, activations and promotions will take place surrounding the boot.

“The Colorado boot is a deeply rooted symbol for our brand,” said Dani Zizak, chief marketing officer of Cat Footwear. “Twenty-five years ago, our consumers challenged the status quo in a bold move by wearing our authentic work boots as a personal expression of everyday style. This revolutionary idea transformed the rugged boot market and created demand for the fashion-driven product our brand is known for today.”

The exhibit of Colorado boot entries will be on display at the Cat Footwear booth in Devos Place Convention Center in Grand Rapids on Nov. 10. The winner will be announced on Nov. 17.
