Clarks Collaborates With British Designer Christopher Raeburn For Spring Collection

The British are coming.

For spring ’16, iconic shoe brand Clarks and and ready-to-wear designer Christopher Raeburn will collaborate on a collection of men’s and women’s footwear.

Clarks x Christopher Raeburn’s debut offering will include 11 styles that reflect the designer’s Borneo theme, with anthropologist Tom Harrison at the center of the story.

For women, the hero sandal is the Salek Sun, a woven style with bold ankle straps and block heels made with lightweight EVA. For enhanced comfort, there’s Cushion Plus technology, a dual-density cushioning system.

Men’s puts the spotlight on the Jacala Strap sandal, which uses a utilitarian and Extralight sole construction complemented by webbing and clip-in buckles.

Raeburn has been designing since 2009 and has brought sustainability to mainstream fashion by taking seemingly obsolete materials, such as decommissioned parachutes, and re-appropriating them as outerwear and military-inspired apparel.

According to Neil Beeson, group director of women’s product at Clarks, “We are excited to be working with Christopher Raeburn, one of a new generation of British designers whose thinking aligns so closely with our own. Christopher’s innovative and sports military aesthetic combines perfectly with Clarks’ 190 years of footwear expertise to create a really exciting new proposition. Performance materials, global inspiration and traditional techniques deliver a distinguished collection which we believe customers will love.”
