What Men Are Wearing This Spring in New York City

Spring has finally sprung here in the Big Apple, and the city’s businessmen have responded in style. When FN’s photographers hit the streets of New York City last week, they discovered a range of footwear looks on men’s feet, which isn’t too surprising given the transitional nature of the season.

A few gentlemen — perhaps fearing a late, surprise bout of slush or snow — stuck with their hardy boots by brands such as Timberland. But many others embraced the warmer temperatures and moments of sunshine with more casual choices, such as low-profile sneakers, suede loafers or chukka boots.

But by far the most popular business-ready style around the city was a pair of light-colored dress shoes, such as brogues either laceups or monk straps. Classic and versatile, the shoes paired well with both wool suits and jeans and a blazer.

And while tan leather dress shoes are a staple of the traditional office environment, that doesn’t mean they have to be boring.

Basic looks can easily be freshened up for spring by pairing them with bold fashion socks in bright colors or patterns.
