‘Kinky Boots’ Celebrates 1,000th Performance With Shoe Contest

Christian Louboutin isn’t the only one obsessed with the color red these days.

To mark the 1,000th performance of the Broadway hit musical “Kinky Boots” on Aug. 26, producers Daryl Roth and Hal Luftig are celebrating with a ticket giveaway and a “fabulous footwear” contest for fans.

To pay homage to the show’s now-iconic red thigh-high boots, the first 50 people in line for tickets who are wearing red shoes when the Hirschfield Theatre box office at 302 West 45 St. opens at 10:00 a.m. will receive a free pair of tickets to that evening’s performance.

On hand to choose the three most fabulous pairs of footwear will be cast member and Tony Award winner Billy Porter. Those three winners will get to join the cast backstage after that evening’s performance for a celebratory toast and custom Kinky Boots cupcakes.

“What better way to celebrate 1,000 performances on Broadway than with some fabulous footwear?” said the producers. “‘Kinky Boots’ fans are the greatest, and we know the results will be inventive and inspired.”
