APL Collaborating With Creatures Of The Wind For New York Fashion Week

Athletic Propulsion Labs (APL) is continuing to make a name for itself in the fashion industry with its latest announcement — a collaboration with Creatures of the Wind.

The collection will include three spring ’16 styles and will debut at the Creatures of the Wind spring ’16 runway show.

“We wanted to create a silhouette that was high-fashion enough for the runway but could also translate to everyday life, while still embodying our core values of performance and function,” said APL cofounder Ryan Goldston.

Creatures of the Wind designers Shane Gabier and Chris Peters said the idea was to develop a shoe that referenced retro sneaker culture while still being modern.

“As with our ready-to-wear collection, we find a lot of appeal in the concept of new versus old, and we like the play of silhouette and materials that suggest this,” said Gabier and Peters.

The style will be available in black, white or red, with materials that include crocodile and stingray. The sneakers will retail for $895, $495 and $695, respectively.

APL first made headlines in 2010 when its Load ‘N’ Launch technology was banned by the NBA after the league decided the shoes would give players an unfair competitive advantage. Earlier this summer, Footwear News named APL one of 20 emerging shoe designers to know.

Creatures of the Wind will show this Thursday, Sept. 10, at New York Fashion Week.
