No.21 & Kartell Collaborate On Knot Bow Slide

The popularity of Alessandro Dell’Acqua’s No.21 Ronny mule is sure to continue with the latest iteration of the bow design.

The company has joined forced with Kartell à la Mode to produce the Knot slide, a plastic sandal combining No.21’s distinctive bow design with the innovative production that Kartell is known for.

The sandals are produced from glossy plastic, are lightweight and come in five colors — black, dusty pink, khaki, mustard and Bordeaux. They will be available starting January 2016 at select boutiques and online.

Footwear News talked exclusively to Dell’Acqua about the line:

How did this collaboration come about?

“The spring/summer ‘15 Bow Mules succeeded both in terms of social visibility and in terms of business. Kartell took notice and, through our showroom, Bonini, asked me to design a shoe with them.”

What was the inspiration?

“Of course, the spring/summer ’15 bow represented the starting point. Kartell give me the chance to experiment with an unusual material, plastic, and to find a new way to shape the bow.”

What do you hope to achieve by working with Kartell?

“Working with Kartell gives me the chance to explore the world of design and to reach, through experimentation, unexpected results.”

How would you describe the shoe you created together?

“The interesting thing is that despite the “industrial” material, each sandal is one of a kind: each bow is in fact handmade and, therefore somehow unique.”
