Paris Fashion Week: Street Style Goes Flat Out For Fall Shows

Flats are taking the lead in Paris. But don’t let that fool you — there’s nothing simple or straightforward about these. Street-style stars are taking a practical yet fashion-forward approach to the shows for fall ’15, and we’re embracing the look.

Bold flatform footwear and sneakers hold a high spot on the cobbled streets of the French fashion capital this March, but more interestingly, strappy flats are stealing the limelight.

Earlier this year, FN reported on this sinewy style as one to watch for next season, and it appears show-goers were paying attention. Bionda Castana, Valentina Carrano, Nicholas Kirkwood and Daniele Michetti offer flat options in their new collections.

Heel-less styles also come chic and pointed or in iridescent hues for a smart twist on the trend.

A masculine approach seems to be a popular angle, too, with some fashion fans choosing loafers, casual slip-ons or Chelsea boots to beat the cold in style.

Carven, Balmain and H&M showed today, and next up, shows include:

Lanvin. For supreme elegance, there’s only one place to look.

Christian Dior. Designed by Raf Simons, this is one the fashion faithful and celebs will be keeping close eyes on.

Isabel Marant. An industry favorite, Marant’s footwear is always a focus.

Maison Marigela. This is John Galliano’s hotly anticipated women’s presentation.
