Andy Murray won his first-round US Open match with a 7-5, 6-3, 4-6 and 6-1 score over Nick Kyrgios on Tuesday night. The No. 3-seeded Murray took to the court in Under Armour above the ankles but opted for a pair of Adidas Barricade tennis shoes — made by his former sponsor.
Since Murray is an Under Armour athlete, yet wore Adidas sneakers during his first US Open match, Adidas wasted no time in taking a friendly jab at Under Armour via Twitter.

Murray signed his four-year endorsement deal with Under Armour in January but continued to wear the Adidas Barricade until Under Armour designed its first men’s tennis shoe — one that was up to Murray’s specifications. The tennis pro finally debuted Under Armour’s Clutchfit Pursuit shoe on court at the Aegon Championship at Queen’s Club in June and took home his fourth Queen’s Club title.
Murray wore the sneakers again at Wimbledon, where he was beaten by Roger Federer in straight sets during the semifinal match.

After that, Murray returned to his Adidas Barricade shoes for his matches during the Citi Open tournament, the Rogers Cup, the Western and Southern Open and now the US Open.
Neither Under Armour or Murray have commented on the switch.
