Michael Jordan Responds To Shoe-Shaming Meme

One bold-talking teen learned the hard way that no one messes with Michael Jordan and his shoe game.

During a question-and-answer session at the basketball legend’s annual Flight School camp this week, cheeky Bryce Lyle stood and pointed to Jordan’s shoes and hit him with a question that’s been sweeping the Internet lately: “What are those?” Lyle was invoking a viral Vine meme that calls people out for their unsightly footwear.

In a video of the incident, posted to Twitter, the 52-year-old Jordan appears stunned and bewildered by the question as the crowd erupts into cheers and laughter. After having the meme explained to him by another adult, Jordan admits he’s “lost on that Vine stuff.”

But then, His Airness strikes back. “What are those? These are 29 Lows,” he says, referring to the newest, yet-to-be-released, super desirable Air Jordan shoes. After all, who else would get first dibs on exclusives but the king of the multibillion-dollar sneaker empire himself.

With that, the room fills with laughter once more — but this time at the expense of Lyle, who had the incredible nerve to shoe-check Michael Jordan on his own turf.
