Red Valentino Pre-Fall 2016 Women’s Shoe Collection

Always ones to reference the 1970s in its heydey, designers Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli dreamed up a collection dripping with groovy California ease this season. Red Valentino’s pre-fall offering featured embroidered floral prints and rich suedes that bring a hint of nostalgia to the footwear offering.

A slightly spunkier offshoot of the house’s main line, Red Valentino played with sweet colorways like patent pink ankle-strap pumps, which was paired with a tangy yellow-and-pink sundress. Though the shoes were simple, they were paired with ribbed hosiery that had a slight sheen to it. Very sweet indeed.

Of course, what would a Valentino collection be without floral embroidery? Ankle and below-the-knee leather boots were printed with flower motifs — a print that mimicked the ready-to-wear dresses. The same boot shapes were done in simple suedes.

While the brand is not exactly breaking ground — its cutesy schtick is carried through every single season — at least a consistency is maintained here. And when the shoes look as good as they do, why fix it if it ain’t broke?
