Resort ’16: Casadei Shoe Collection

For resort ’16, Cesare Casadei presented an eclectic collection, comprising of standout pumps, flatform sandals and chunky platforms.

Looking to the 70s for inspiration, the collection included an array of updated Blade pumps, in various multicolors, reminiscent of a rainbow oil slick – as well as a chunky platform mule created in muted snakeskin, complete with oversized tassels. Just the shoe you could envisage on the dance floor at Studio 54.

The color palette appeared to have come straight from a Ladurée display, an intentional decision, with macarons being on Casadei’s mind during the creative process. However, ensuring the collection will reach a wide consumer audience, he chose to cut the sweetness of the pastels by infusing brown leathers and python skins.

An archival design of his fathers, Casadei this season re-introduced the Twisted pump (pictured above), as well as reinventing it as a flat. The styles were presented in full suede,  both inside and out.

On the sandal front, the collection included a butterfly cutout design with a simple front tie – also available in a flat version. One of the more unique finishes was evident on a statement heeled sandal, offered in a stretch knit with attached Swarovski crystals.
