You’d be forgiven for thinking you’d read that headline wrong. But you haven’t. Two brands that are generally unlikely to be heard in the same sentence teamed up for Marchesa’s spring ’16 New York Fashion Week show.
No, the models did not walk the runway in Ugg boots — they wore laser-cut heels designed by Marchesa’s Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig from the duo’s first luxury shoe collection. They did however, enjoy the comfort of Ugg Australia‘s boots, flip-flop slippers and fluffy robes while getting their hair and makeup done backstage and during rehearsal. And I must say, in those settings the pairing doesn’t seem out of place.

For those familiar with the mayhem that can often ensue backstage during New York Fashion Week — the scheduling, the manicurists, the photographers, the producers, gowns being finalized — you’d likely agree that there is a time and place for killer statement heels, and prepping for a runway show is certainly not it.
Supermodel Carolyn Murphy, who is currently the face of Ugg Australia’s Luxe collection, said, “My style definitely leans toward low-maintenance, classic and comfortable pieces. When it comes to clothes, I work from the bottom up, choosing my shoes first, so I know I can make it through the day. [The Classic Luxe boots] keep me comfortable and looking chic throughout the day.”
Clearly, Chapman and Craig agreed, and the models were most grateful for it.
