Monique Lhuillier sent bright shoes down the runway – inspired by modern art.
Think emerald green, cobalt and fushia, unique heel treatments and flat sandals with multi-colored tassels.
“Ellsworth Kelly was a big inspiration. The collection is bright and bold, with color-block styles and abstract floral patterns,” Lhuillier told FN.
“It also contains unexpected design elements, including Lucite, saturated leather, prints, matte and shine,” she added. “I want women to be able to incorporate a sense of playfulness into their style.”
The designer went on to further describe the highlights behind such a playful collection for spring ’16.

“There is a certain harmony that can come from color, texture and depth when they are combined in specific ways. I am always inspired by color, but this season was about using it more explicitly; taking advantage of pattern and trim with the palette to bring definition to the shoe,” she said. “The elements are all very bold in order to evoke a sense of playfulness and whimsy,” she continued. “[The shoes] are artful and edgy, while remaining whimsical and feminine.”
“[This season] is my first using matte rubberized leather, which feels very modern and sleek,” Lhuillier added.
