Buscemi To Unveil First Store On New York’s Wooster Street

After experiencing rapid growth since its inception three years ago, Buscemi is making a big move into retail.

The brand will open the 2,500-sq.-ft. store on Wooster Street in New York’s Soho neighborhood during fashion week next month.

The label’s founder, Jon Buscemi, and his staff transformed the former Team Gallery art space into a unique location. It was designed to pay homage to Buscemi’s New York City roots.

The store, which will serve as an exhibition/gallery space for artist collaborations and other projects, will be divided into two rooms. The front room showcases three multi-size gold pyramids where key styles will be featured. Case in point: A high-end silhouette featuring real gold details and diamond-crusted closures (designed by jeweler Shayan Afshar) will be featured on the middle pyramid.

The other space — decked out in white-paneled wood paired with gold fixtures — will feature the full collection. Sonos also outfitted the space with 25 speakers.

The move comes as the brand forges ahead with a number of major growth initiatives. Earlier this month, Rebecca Damavandi joined Buscemi as CEO.

Damavandi took over for previous CEO Andrew Ajlun. Damavandi has held positions at Vince, Elie Tahari and the Kellwood Company. Most recently, she was group president of global business at Vince.
