Bata Shoe Company Hires Beer Executive As CEO

Alexis Nasard has been named CEO of the Lausanne, Switzerland-based Bata footwear company. The former Heineken executive assumed his role on April 4 and will oversee the firm’s branded, retail and e-commerce shoe business.

“I am very excited at the opportunity to work with the Bata team to further develop the company and its brands, particularly the Bata brand, through a fast-changing consumer and retail environment, building on the company’s strong assets and global footprint,” said Nasard in a statement.

The new CEO comes with 24 years of experience in consumer goods, most recently serving as president of Heineken’s $8 billion Western European business. He also spent 17 years at Proctor & Gamble, helping to define strategies for new product categories and overseeing sales efforts in both developed and emerging markets.

He’ll certainly be putting those skills to work at Bata. The 122-year-old, family-owned footwear company has a presence in at least 70 countries, where it operates more than 24 production facilities and 5,000 retail stores.
