The past year has been one of the biggest for designer shakeups at top fashion houses. Designers played musical chairs at Dior, Valentino, Saint Laurent and Lanvin, which had the industry talking about what future seasons would look like. Here are the major moves to keep ahead of it all.
Calvin Klein, Dior and Valentino
Designers Francisco Costa and Italo Zucchelli exited Calvin Klein in April. Raf Simons, who left Dior in October 2015, was hired as creative head of Calvin Klein in August. Simons left Dior after a three-year stint with the label.
Dior named longtime Valentino co-creative head Maria Grazia Chiuri in July. Chiuri’s co-creative head, Pierpaolo Piccioli, will remain as the creative head of Valentino.
Lanvin

Alber Elbaz was pushed out of the storied label in October 2015. Couture designer Bouchra Jarraras was named Lanvin’s new artistic director in March.
Saint Laurent
Hedi Slimane parted ways with the brand in March and was quickly replaced by emerging designer Anthony Vaccarello in April. Vaccarello had previously worked with Donatella Versace on revamping the Versus Versace line for fall 2015.
Oscar de la Renta
It’s been two years since the unexpected passing of American icon Oscar de la Renta. Peter Copping was set to lead the house and receive training from the acclaimed designer but exited suddenly after just a few seasons in July. No replacement has been named.
Brioni
Designer Brendan Mullane exited Brioni in February. My Theresa fashion director and street style man-about-town Justin O’Shea took the helm of the brand in March.
Berluti, Ermenegildo Zegna
Alessandro Sartori departed Berluti in February after five years at the LVMH-owned label. He returned to Ermenegildo Zegna as artistic director. Previously, he had served as a creative head of the brand’s more trend-focused line, Z Zenga.
Sergio Rossi
In May, design director Angelo Ruggeri departed iconic shoe brand Sergio Rossi. No replacement has been named.
