Industry Moves: August 2016

Aug. 24, 2016: Differential Brands Group Inc.-owned water-resistant footwear and outerwear label Swims has named former Sanuk president Jake Brandman its new president, effective Aug. 29. Brandman will report to Differential Brands CEO Michael Buckley. The incoming president spent eight years with Deckers Brands serving as VP of North American sales for Teva and Simple before becoming brand president for Sanuk.

Aug. 22, 2016: Sequential Brands Group Inc., parent of the Jessica Simpson Collection, Heelys, And1 and other brands, has appointed Andrew Cooper its new president, reporting directly to CEO Yehuda Shmidman. Cooper most recently served as a partner of Pegasus Capital Advisors and CEO of Universal Lubricants, a Pegasus Capital portfolio company.

Aug. 18, 2016: Macy’s Inc. has named Richard Lennox its new chief marketing officer, effective Sept. 15. He will report to Macy’s president Jeff Gennette and join the company’s executive committee. Since 2014, Lennox had served as SVP and chief marketing officer at Toys R Us. He succeeds Martine Reardon, who left Macy’s in May after 32 years with the firm.

Aug. 17, 2016: Outdoor footwear brand Oboz Footwear has added two new members to its product creation team — Brad Long as director of product and Seth Brown as senior product developer. The additions come as the company opens a new product design and development office in Portland, Ore. Long, who will lead the team, is a veteran of Nike Inc. Brown most recently served as director of Asia footwear product development for VF Corp.-owned Timberland.

Aug. 15, 2016: Boot brand Bearpaw has appointed Jason Martini as its new CFO. Martini joins Bearpaw after 10 years with VF Corp., where he held various positions within the JanSport brand including controller, director of FP&A and, most recently, CFO.

 Aug. 15, 2016: Connie Rishwain, former president of Deckers-owned Ugg brand, has joined Vionic in a new role as president of its global business. Rishwain will oversee product, marketing and sales at Vionic, and she also joins its board of directors. She will report directly to CEO Chris Gallagher.

Aug. 12, 2016: Dick’s Sporting Goods announced that Teri List-Stoll, its CFO since August 2015, is no longer with the firm. Dick’s COO André Hawaux will take over the slot until a permanent successor is named. Hawaux had served as Dick’s CFO before List-Stoll’s arrival from Kraft Foods Group last year.

Aug. 9, 2016: Stuart Weitzman handed over the design reins of his storied brand to Giovanni Morelli, who will be become the label’s new creative director, effective May 5, 2017. Weitzman, who is the current creative director and executive chairman, will become chairman of the company. Morelli will report to CEO and brand president Wendy Kahn, who was appointed to that role last month and is set to start Sept. 13. 

Aug. 8, 2016: K-Swiss has named Robert Brack its new VP of sales for the K-Swiss brand, effective immediately. Brack will be responsible for the Americas, reporting directly to K-Swiss president Barney Waters. Prior to joining K-Swiss, Brack served as president and GM of sneaker brand Creative Recreation. Brack has also held managerial positions in merchandising, sales and brand development for Reebok, Pony, Dr. Marten’s, Donna Karen and Nordstrom.

Aug. 8, 2016: VF Corp. owned Timberland has named Jim Pisani its new global brand president. Pisani takes over the role effective immediately and will report to Scott Baxter, VF VP and group president of outdoor and action sports Americas. Pisani succeeds Stewart Whitney, who left the company in July 2016. Pisani previously served as the president of VF’s Licensed Sports Group.

Aug. 8, 2016: VF Corp. has named Mike Pardini president of its Licensed Sports Group. Pardini most recently held the position of VP of Sales for VF Licensed Sports Group and the Majestic brand. He joined VF in 2010 as director of Harley-Davidson sales.

Aug. 4, 2016: After 18 years with the company, Kevin Carrigan, global creative director of Calvin Klein Inc., has resigned from his post, WWD reports. Carrigan was responsible for ck Calvin Klein, Calvin Klein Jeans and Calvin Klein White Label. Carrigan will stay on at the company temporarily to help with the transition, according to WWD.

Aug. 4, 2016: Outdoor and lifestyle brand Keen Inc. has hired Nike Inc. veteran John Eberle as its first-ever GM of outdoor. In his new role, Eberle will oversee global business operations, management strategy and product and business development for Keen’s largest product category. Prior to joining Keen, Eberle spent 13 years at Nike in various roles – most recently as VP/GM running emerging markets.

Aug. 3, 2016: Wolverine World Wide Inc. has appointed Mike Jeppesen, president of Wolverine Worldwide’s Global Operations Group, to an expanded role as president of the Wolverine Heritage Group, which includes the Wolverine, Bates, Harley-Davidson and Hytest brands. He succeeds Ted Gedra, who recently retired from the company after 30 years. Jeppesen will also continue to lead Wolverine’s Global Operations Group and will report directly to Blake Krueger, Wolverine’s chairman, CEO and president. Jeppesen joined the company in 2012 as president of the Global Operations Group. Prior to joining Wolverine Worldwide, Jeppesen held a variety of senior leadership roles at Collective Brands, Coach, Adidas and Ecco.

Aug. 3, 2016: After 10 years of steering the label, Salvatore Ferragamo CEO Michele Norsa officially exited the company. Former Furla CEO Eraldo Poletto will be the fashion house’s new CEO. Poletto joined the board of directors on Aug. 2, 2017. Ferragamo initially announced this executive move in May.

Aug. 2, 2016: Calvin Klein has named Raf Simons its new chief creative officer. Simons, former artistic director of Dior, left the French fashion house in fall 2015 after he was reportedly unable to come to an agreement on a new contract with Dior’s parent company, LVMH. Calvin Klein has also hired Pieter Mulier for a creative director role that will report directly to Simons. Calvin Klein said in April that it would unify all Calvin Klein brands under one creative vision and that Francisco Costa, women’s creative director of Calvin Klein Collection, and Italo Zucchelli, men’s creative director of Calvin Klein Collection, would exit the company.

Aug. 1, 2016: VF Corp.-owned Vans has appointed 12-year company veteran Doug Palladini to the position of Vans global brand president, effective immediately. Palladini joined Vans in 2004 and spent nine years leading the Vans global marketing function. Most recently, he served as VP and GM for the Vans North America region (since 2013).
