Puma Names New GM of Teamsport

Puma has named Matthias Mecking the new GM of its team sports business unit.

Mecking, who took the post this month, will be responsible for managing and marketing the German sporting-goods maker’s full range of team sport products, including footwear, apparel and accessories.

He is to succeed Filip Trulsson, who will remain with the firm to ensure a smooth transition and take on a new role.

A veteran in the sports industry, Mecking started his career in 1996 at rival Adidas, where he held a number of positions, most recently as senior director of project management, according to his LinkedIn profile.

He joins Puma after a two-month stint as strategy consultant at German sports club Werder Bremen.

Mecking will be based in Herzogenaurach and report to CEO Bjørn Gulden.
