Keds Enlists Leading Women To Help Mark Its Centennial Year

What better way to celebrate your 100th year in business than with the help of a few powerful women?

To mark its milestone, iconic sneaker brand Keds has launched its latest spring ’16 campaign — “Keds Collective” — enlisting a few rather famous faces to front the shoot.

“As we celebrate our centennial year, we are thrilled to introduce the world to the new Keds Collective, a group of inspiring women who have made a significant impact in their respective industries,” said Chris Lindner, president, Keds, in a statement.

“The members of the Keds Collective mirror the individuality and everyday triumphs of the women in the world who wear our sneakers — celebrating female empowerment, individuality and following your own path to success.”

The Keds Collective includes actor Allison Williams, who will feature in two short videos for the brand, singer Ciara, who is collaborating on a signature shoe, along with musician Tory Kelly and model Cailin Russo, among others.

Female empowerment in no stranger to Keds. The brand prides itself on committing to women’s creativity and self-expression. Over the past 100 years, Keds has been associated with iconic leading ladies such as Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe and Jackie O.

In preparation for the 100th year, the brand launched its “Ladies First” campaign in 2015 starring pop icon Taylor Swift. At that time Lindner commented, “Keds is approaching its centennial year in 2016, and the Ladies First platform is the start of a powerful new era. The headline ‘It’s not a running shoe, it’s a run-the-world shoe’ is a pinnacle expression of what we stand for.”
