Foot Locker Opens Massive New Flagship Store In New York

Foot Locker on Tuesday held a shoelace “untying” ceremony to celebrate the redesign of its store on 34th Street in New York.

The store is the first to incorporate Foot Locker’s new layout, which allows top athletic brands to occupy their own spaces within the store. Puma Lab Powered by Foot Locker and The Foundation Only at Foot Locker, which is an Adidas concept shop, both have areas in the store, as does Foot Locker’s Six:02 banner and its House of Hoops basketball shop. The goal is to allow customers to shop by brand more easily.

“At Foot Locker, we are always looking for creative ways to bring the best retail experience to our customers and to establish ourselves as the go-to destination for the world’s leading athletic brands,” said Andy Gray, vice president and general manager of Foot Locker.

Along with Gray, NBA star Joakim Noah was on hand to unveil the new store, as was Jake Jacobs, executive vice president and CEO of Foot Locker North America. There were performances by the Brooklyn United marching band and Generation X dance crew, and inside the store, consumers could get shoes customized by sneaker artists. There was also an exclusive drop from Adidas in the new store: the Adidas D Lillard 2 Tennis Ball Edition.
