Always one to create a spectacle, Kanye West debuted his latest Yeezy Season 4 collection during New York Fashion Week today. And boy, was it quite the event. There was fainting, tripping and — more importantly — new shoes.

Kanye’s Crew
The Yeezy show drew an impressive crowd of Kanye’s closest friends — friends who happen to be huge celebs, natch. A few members of the Kardashian clan were there, including wife Kim Kardashian West, as well as Kendall and Kylie Jenner. We spotted Russell Westbrook, Desiigner, Tyga, Pharrell Williams, 2 Chainz, Pusha T, Fabolous, Stan Smith (yes, the tennis legend with an Adidas shoe named after him) and Off White’s Virgil Abloh. On the runway: Sofia Richie — Justin Bieber’s new girlfriend — walked, as well as Teyana Taylor, who recently starred in West’s “Fade” music video.

Hot Topic
Held on a hot summer day on Roosevelt Island, the show had both guests and models scorching in the sun. Like a corralled pack of well-dressed animals, guests waited over an hour and a half in line due to a late start (a common theme at a Yeezy show). It was so hot that a few models actually fainted and required water, too.
Footwear Blunders
If models fainting wasn’t bad enough, many of them couldn’t walk in the runway shoes, either. While the show featured more sensible footwear such as pool slides and new Yeezy Boost sneakers, it also debuted new heeled thigh-high boots (in plastic PVC or suede). Many models had difficulty walking in these styles, either teetering their way down the runway or taking off the shoes midway. Not a cute look.
Eerie Music
Featuring a performance by Vanessa Beecroft, the show started with models wearing varying shades of nude bodysuits, standing in formation at Roosevelt Island’s Four Freedoms Park. The music was eerie, chanting and slow, with continuous electronic beats — a sound that, somehow, made one feel hotter standing in the blaring sun.
Yeezy Merch
Never one to miss a business opportunity, West launched a temporary “The Life of Pablo” pop-up shop on site at the show. Two long-sleeve shirts, in neon green or white, were being sold for $75 and featured “Yeezy Season 4” on the back. West claims his New York store has sold $1 million in merchandise since opening in March.
