Dwyane Wade Wants To Start His Own Fashion Brand

After months of speculation, NBA free agent Dwyane Wade finally picked his team last night, and it’s not the Miami Heat, where he has spent his entire career thus far. Instead, he’s headed back to his hometown to join the Chicago Bulls.

Wade reportedly has agreed to a two-year contract with the Bulls, estimated to be worth $47 million.

Surely part of that salary will be used to build a Chicago home to rival his Miami castle. (Seriously, it’s a castle — it has a moat.)

But the pro athlete might also devote part of it to his other ambition: fashion.

In an email exchange with FN last week, Wade — who already has a signature sneaker line with Li-Ning — revealed that he hopes to eventually start his own fashion label. “That’s naturally the next step in this journey,” Wade told FN.

So what would the Dwyane Wade menswear  line look like? “It would be made up of pieces to create the perfect uniform for every man’s life,” said Wade. “It would be both functional and stylish. The complete line will be interchangeable, making every outfit effortless.”

The NBA star has been a regular for years at runway shows around the world, often alongside his wife, actress Gabrielle Union.

Most recently, though, he was seen hitting up the Paris men’s presentations, where he palled around with fellow stylish sports stars Victor Cruz and Nick Young.

Wade told FN that he has very specific criteria for fashion. “What is important to me are designers who make clothes that complement and fit an athletic build,” Wade said.

Among his favorite designers, he listed Dean and Dan Caten of Dsquared2, Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne of Public School, Olivier Rousteing of Balmain, Riccardo Tisci of Givenchy, Kris Van Assche of Dior, Alexander Wang, Shimon and Ariel of Ovadia & Sons and Alessandro Michele of Gucci.
