It was all about Louis Vuitton on the red carpet tonight at the Met Gala in New York. Several of the top names opted to step out on the red carpet in designs by the famous fashion house.
Taylor Swift arrived in a head-to-toe ensemble, including statement gladiator boots. As the co-chair she’s one of the highest profile names on the carpet, and one of the big draws of the night.
The biggest surprise of the night though was the dominance of the the label’s chunky, hiker-inspired boots. Alicia Vikander made a bold shoe choice wearing the fall ’16 boots by Louis Vuitton. It was certainly an unconventional look for the red carpet, but that is what the Met Gala is all about.
Selena Gomez also stepped out in a bold shoe look, pairing her black and white ensemble with a pair of lug-soled boots. Michelle Williams also surprised pairing her navy mini-dress with black hikers. Jennifer Connelly too embraced the look.

Regardless of what statement each of the boots were meant to make, it was certainly a fresh departure from a sea of dainty sandals in years past.
