Brian Atwood Pre-Fall 2016 Women’s Shoe Collection

Brian Atwood was in a boot state of mind for pre-fall ’16. The designer focused on a variety of styles for the season, including thigh-highs and open-toe booties.

The collection’s standouts included ankle boots in colorful mosaic or snakeskin prints. Thigh-high boots were done in suede and leather in varying heel heights. Ankle booties had open toes, some lined with fur and finished with leather whipstitching.

“We wanted to create news kinds of fur, and play with patchwork and fringe. It’s a great texture to have,” said Atwood at his pre-fall preview. “All the fringe you see is doubled in bronze, so you get a different effect.”

Known for his sky-high heels, the designer was also feeling grounded this time around. “We have a lot of thicker heels, which is great for urban living,” said Atwood. “Some shearling booties and sandals, and you can wear them with cashmere stockings.”

In addition to the boot offering, Atwood offered new takes on his signature styles. The Tribeca platform, which is a huge hit amongst celebrities on the red carpet, was updated with crystal embellishment and the same sprightly prints used in the boots.

“[Celebrities] don’t want to shorten the dress, so they bring their height up,” said Atwood. “Go high or go home!”

Up next, the designer will be busy prepping the main fall collection—but he hopes to squeeze in a little bit of Sin City fun.

“I just got back from Mexico, and I go to Milan on Sunday for two weeks. And then we have fall ’16, the Oscars,” said Atwood. “I’m really want to go to Jennifer Lopez’s concert in Vegas, but we’ll see if I can swing it.”
