The mood: Art Deco Bohemia
The shoes: Flying feathers on extreme winged stilettos and peacock mixed-media appliqué were just some of the expressions of flight that Brian Atwood explored this season. “Found a source for rare feathers on eBay that I used as inspiration,” he shared on the plumes that were originally intended for millenary.
Ever on-theme, the designer was wearing a Gucci military jacket embroidered with birds of a feather on the back. Elsewhere, deco motifs adorned patchwork and velvet boots. While fanciful footwork was hard to not marvel at, some of the comparatively commercial styles (a great round toe pump with crisscross lacing) could have got lost. Perhaps sensing this, Atwood swathed them in a deep gold.
The verdict: While his signature shapes (over the knee, platform and stiletto) largely remained, from a decorative standpoint he did indeed spread his wings, if you will.
