The Craziest Runway Shoes From New York Fashion Week Fall 2016

It’s our favorite time of year — time to review the craziest shoes from the runways, that is. The fall ’16 shows in New York featured fresh experimentation that included a departure from designers’ often too-safe footwear assortments.

Marc Jacobs closed the season by embodying fall’s daring sentiment. His lace-up boots had extreme platform soles that added a theatrical, costume-like element to his looks. The mega sole also appeared at Rihanna’s Fenty x Puma runway show, where she added thick soles onto creeper styles.

Ruffles and sequins also made an appearance, proving more is indeed more. Rodarte offered ultra-ruffled boots, while Delopozo went for pointy sequined oxfords with wooden flatform soles.

Boots, meanwhile, were finished in impactful prints. Playful prints were offered by Naeem Khan, who presented optical-illusion thigh-highs, and Jeremy Scott, who did cartoon-print Western boots.
