A Closer Look at Gucci’s Disney Loafers for Spring

Who knew Donald Duck was such a fashion guy? For spring ’17, Gucci‘s artistic director, Alessandro Michele, embraced quirky Disney motifs on the label’s men’s ready-to-wear and shoes, including an update on the Italian label’s iconic horsebit loafer.

The men’s-runway style features a squared toe, leather sole and mismatched embroidered patches (including Donald Duck and a lobster). It will retail for $1,590 at select Gucci stores nationwide, as well as on its e-commerce website.

Other shoes in the spring men’s collection included satin and suede loafer mules, strappy sandals and lace-up combat boots with Gucci’s signature Dionysus clasp.

Disney shoes, meanwhile, have been all the rage. A variety of footwear brands have recently collaborated with Disney on special capsule collections.

This month, Vans debuted a “Toy Story” sneaker collection for toddlers, kids and adults. This past year, the cult classic “Alice in Wonderland” also got the shoe treatment from brands like Irregular Choice and Robert Clergerie.
