Jimmy Choo embraced a rock n’ roll spirit for spring ’17. The latest men’s collection, which was debuted during Milan Fashion Week today, took cues from legendary musicians-turned-style icons, with styles ranging from studded sneakers to jacquards that referenced the Japanese bandanas often worn by Keith Richards.
“Those rockers really mix prints and patterns,” said Sandra Choi, Jimmy Choo’s creative director. “Keith Richards, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan. I love how they’re artists in their own right, too. They’re wordsmiths.”
Smoking slippers took cue from Japanese scarf prints, like daisy prints overlaid over a linen or denim upper. Festival fringing was also used on loafers and suede boots, which had tassels along the ankle.

Standout boots included a metallic-treated Jodhpur boot, which also came in a multicoloured python. We could easily see the style on James Jagger, who was just named the label’s fall ’16 campaign face.
The collection took a grungier turn via leather low- and high-tops with metal studding. A white high-top with silver sequins is perhaps best suited for the stage than the streets.
Evening wear included double-monk brogue boots, and lace-up dress shoes in a golden metallic striped pattern. Dressy, but not quite stuffy. Overall the latest offering had a clear cohesion to it that has lacked in previous collections. Rock on, Choo.
