Karl Lagerfeld Criticizes Kim Kardashian West’s Public Flashiness

Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld is offering up some tough love to Kim Kardashian West following the incident early Monday morning when she was robbed at gunpoint in her Paris hotel room.

After the Chanel spring ’17 runway show in Paris today, Lagerfeld told the Associated Press that Kardashian West is too flashy with her wealth.

“[She is] too public, too public — we have to see in what time we live. You cannot display your wealth, then be surprised that some people want to share it,” he said.

“I don’t understand why [Kardashian West] was in a hotel with no security and things like this. If you are that famous and you put all your jewelry on the net, you go to hotels where nobody can come near to the room.”

Usher, who sat front row at the Chanel show, told reporters that he is familiar with the celeb-favored L’Hotel de Pourtales where Kardashian West was staying.

“It’s very unfortunate that that would be the one thing that would represent this incredible week of fashion, so I hope that it doesn’t overshadow,” Usher said. “[Gun crime] like that happens all the time. In America, people get robbed everywhere, man. Unfortunately it does maybe take a celebrity to shine a light on unfortunate situations.”

According to reports, Kardashian West was tied up in her hotel room by several masked men, who had overtaken a front desk security guard. The robbers took a ring from Kardashian West worth an estimated $4.5 million and other items totaling another $5 million. After meeting with authorities, she traveled to New York, where she reunited with husband Kanye West.
