Melissa Shoes is going for Baroque.
The Brazilian brand, known for its design-driven plastic shoes, said it will collaborate with Humberto and Fernando Campana, furniture designers from the same country. The Campana brothers specialize in building furniture using everyday materials, such as scrap items, rope and cloth.
The collection of flats, called Barroca, offers a playful take on the Italian Baroque style but is infused with hints of Brazilian culture. The shoes, according to the company, “blend ornaments of the past with modern details and an organic color palette.” The styles are available on the company’s site, selling for $98.

To accompany the launch of the line, the Campana brothers opened an installation, “Barroca: The Harmony of Imperfection,” at the Galleria Melissa in London. The exhibit, which runs through February, highlights five pieces of furniture from its Baroque collection.
Melissa said 30 percent of the collaboration styles are made from recycled PVC, with some proceeds going to World Vision, a charity helping to fight childhood poverty.
Working with furniture designers is the latest in a string of collaborations for the footwear brand.
In the past, Melissa has partnered with Karl Lagerfeld, Walt Cassidy and Edson Matsuo.
